Atypical squamous cells are a result of cervical cancer screening. Since atypical squamous cells can also be seen in cervical inflammation and epithelial lesions of the cervix, their significance is uncertain. It is recommended that further colposcopy be performed and HPV test be performed. If the result is negative, no treatment is required, and regular reexamination is performed, but if it is positive, it may be cervical cancer.
