Is it hereditary?

Stuttering may be inherited, but stuttering may also be caused by other reasons.

Stuttering refers to the frequent occurrence of language repetition, sound retardation or jamming in the process of speech. Medical research has found that if one or both parents stutter, the child is more likely to stutter, so there is generally a genetic possibility.

However, stuttering is not entirely caused by heredity. For people with psychological stress or emotional sensitivity, stuttering may occur due to psychological stress caused by speaking, thus fear of speaking and stuttering.
