What causes cleft lip and palate

Children with cleft lip and palate are usually due to fetal infection, physical trauma or severe mental injury during pregnancy. It is mainly seen in chronic diseases such as severe nutritional disorders, diabetes, and patients taking antiepileptic drugs or hormone drugs during pregnancy, resulting in fetal malformations in the body. Therefore, cleft lip and palate will occur after birth.
