What causes liver stones?

There is no exact conclusion on the cause of hepatolithiasis. Generally, it is related to bacterial infection, cholestasis, parasite infection and other reasons.
1. Bacterial infection in patients
will lead to excessive saturation of bile pigment calcium in bile, which can lead to cholangitis. Repeated chronic inflammation will lead to inflammatory hyperplasia of bile duct wall, resulting in hepatolithiasis.
2. Cholestasis
patients due to biliary inflammatory stricture and biliary tract malformation can cause cholestasis, which can generate stones in bile duct, and then liver stones.
3. Parasitic infection in
patients due to parasite infection, eggs, insect fragments will cause stones to form, resulting in liver stones.
