Origin of the appendicular artery

Appendiceal artery originates from superior mesenteric artery, belonging to terminal branch of ileocolic artery.

Appendiceal artery can supply blood and nutrients to appendix. ileocolic artery is a branch of superior mesenteric artery, while appendix artery is a branch of ileocolic artery. It passes through ileocolic artery and reaches around cecum, and then enters appendix mesentery through ileocolic branch. It belongs to terminal artery. Often due to lack of blood circulation, artery blockage and appendicitis occur. If blood circulation disorder is not treated for a long time, Can lead to gangrene or perforation of the appendix.
