What is spinal cord tumor?

Healing hearts, healing lives.
Spinal cord tumor is one of the most important causes of spinal cord and cauda equina compression, including spinal canal and spinal cord connective tissue tumors. The incidence of primary spinal cord tumor is 2.5 per 100 000 people per year, and the incidence of both sexes is similar, except that meningioma is more common in women and ependymoma is more common in men. The incidence of thoracic spinal cord is higher, but the incidence is roughly the same according to the proportion of each segment length. Spinal cord tumors are not caused by a single cause, but may be closely related to heredity, trauma and environment. Spinal cord tumors include intraspinal tumors and extraspinal tumors. Spinal cord tumors are called intramedullary tumors, including ependymoma, astrocytoma, hemangioblastoma, lipoma, metastatic tumor and schwannoma. Subdural spinal cord tumors are mainly neurilemmoma, meningioma, ependymoma, dermoid cyst, epidermoid cyst, lipoma, teratoma, neuroenterogenic cyst.
