Can chronic appendicitis cause backache

Chronic appendicitis may cause low back pain.

When the appendix is located in the retroperitoneum, inflammation invades the retroperitoneum and stimulates the muscle tissue of the retroperitoneum, which may cause low back pain. Chronic appendicitis is mainly caused by pain in the right lower abdomen. There may be tenderness when pressing the right lower abdomen. Low back pain symptoms are not common, so patients should also combine blood routine examination, X-ray colonography, ultrasound examination or CT examination with urogenital system and gynecological diseases for differential diagnosis.

If chronic appendicitis is diagnosed, surgery is usually considered, such as laparoscopic surgery or open surgery.
