What is an acetabular fracture?

Your health, my unwavering commitment.
Acetabulum fracture belongs to a special type of pelvic fracture.
The mechanism of acetabular fracture involves strong external force acting on the hip joint, resulting in the destruction of the acetabular bone structure. This destruction may include different parts of the acetabulum, such as the acetabular roof, posterior wall, anterior wall, etc., and often accompanied by hip dislocation. Due to the complex anatomical structure of the acetabulum, the manifestations of fracture may not be typical. It is very important to make a definite diagnosis by X-ray, CT and other imaging examinations. However, there are still cases of missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis, which requires a wealth of experience and careful analysis by clinicians.
The treatment methods include conservative treatment and surgical treatment, depending on the type of fracture, the degree of displacement, and the overall condition of the patient. Conservative treatment is suitable for stable fractures with no obvious displacement or slight displacement, while surgical treatment is often used for unstable fractures with obvious displacement to restore acetabular anatomy and hip stability.
