Symptoms of mediastinal tumors

Symptoms of mediastinal tumors need to be differentiated according to the nature and size of the tumor, whether it shows spread and metastasis. If it is benign, due to the small tumor and slow growth rate, there is generally no obvious symptoms. Malignant mediastinal tumors, which grow too fast and spread and metastasize easily, can easily cause chest pain, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. If the tumor presses on peripheral nerves, it can also cause back pain and edema of the lower extremities. When the tumor invades the recurrent laryngeal nerve and esophagus, it can also cause patients to show hoarseness, even aphonia and dysphagia.
