What is the difference between small cell carcinoma and non-small cell carcinoma?

Healing hearts, healing lives.
Non-small cell carcinoma is most common in squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Small cell carcinoma itself is easy to show distant metastasis in the early stage. The disease progresses rapidly and the mortality rate is relatively high. The survival time is often about one year. Because small cell carcinoma is easy to show extensive metastasis. Therefore, chemotherapy is the main treatment mode. For non-small cell carcinoma, surgical resection can be actively selected. For larger lesions, neoadjuvant chemotherapy can be used first, and surgical resection can be given after the lesions become smaller. Ideal therapeutic effect can often be obtained. Therefore, there are certain differences in treatment mode and prognosis between the two.
