Treatment of duodenal cancer

Restoring health, one step at a time.
Duodenal cancer should be treated by radical resection in principle, combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy after operation. However, duodenal cancer is not sensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and surgery is only applicable to some patients. The surgical method depends on the location and growth of the tumor. For example, subtotal gastrectomy is suitable for early cancer lesions in the duodenal bulb and tumors near the pylorus. Staged duodenectomy is mainly suitable for early cancer in the horizontal and ascending parts. Other surgical procedures include pancreaticoduodenectomy and local papillary tumor resection. For advanced patients, as with other advanced cancer patients, only nutrition, energy support, pain relief, and keeping patients happy can improve the quality of life and prolong life.
