If a woman has an HPV test and a TCT test that shows an HPV-negative TCT low-grade lesion, it is generally indicative of low-grade cervical lesions, but not due to HPV infection.
TCT low-grade lesions usually refer to low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions, which are a type of precancerous lesions and may be associated with smoking, multiple sexual partners, early sexual life, multiple births, prolonged oral contraceptives, obesity, herpes simplex virus infection, or chlamydia infection. Most patients with low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions can resolve on their own, and some may develop high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions, increasing the risk of cancer.
