Ascites is the most prominent clinical manifestation of decompensation stage of liver cirrhosis. When the amount of ascites is small, it can be treated by limiting sodium and water intake and applying diuretics. Generally, the curative effect is good. A large amount of ascites makes diaphragm rise, which can show palpitation and dyspnea. A few patients can form umbilical hernia, and some patients can accompany right pleural effusion. If it is refractory ascites, it is difficult to treat it. Long-term ascites is easy to cause intraperitoneal infection and spontaneous bacterial peritonitis. The prognosis is extremely poor and serious.
