What functions does the stomach have?

The stomach is an enlarged part of the esophagus, located below the diaphragm, connected to the esophagus above and to the small intestine below. The part of the stomach near the cardia is called the cardia, the part near the pylorus is called the pyloric antrum, and the middle part of the two is called the stomach body. In fact, the stomach has a function of storing food. Generally speaking, the gastric emptying time is about 4-6 hours. It slowly digests the process and then pushes it inward. Therefore, the stomach has the functions of storage, transportation, digestion and absorption.
