The normal range of postprandial blood glucose is less than 7.8 mmol per liter. Therefore, in addition to fasting blood glucose, it is recommended to do oral glucose tolerance test for blood glucose two hours after meals. If the blood sugar is below 7.8 two hours after a meal, it is normal. If the blood sugar is between 7.8 and 11.1 mmol per liter two hours after a meal, this is considered abnormal glucose tolerance. If the blood sugar is greater than or equal to 11.1 twice after a meal, diabetes can be diagnosed.
