Symptoms of pituitary adenoma

There are two main types of symptoms of pituitary tumor, one is compression symptoms, which can include headache, visual decline, visual field defect, severe compression to hypothalamus, and abnormal thermoregulation. There is also a category of hormone secretion abnormal symptoms, patients will show what kind of symptoms and pituitary tumor type is related, if prolactinoma patients may show galactorrhoea phenomenon, if growth hormone tumor patients may show giants or acromegaly, if TSH tumor patients may show hyperthyroidism symptoms. In addition, if other cells of the pituitary gland are compressed, there will also be a decline in pituitary function, which can be manifested as pituitary insufficiency, or hypothyroidism, or hypogonadism.
