In-frame cellulitis is mostly caused by bacterial infection.
In-frame cellulitis is mostly caused by local skin or mucosal injury, and pathogenic bacteria invade loose connective tissue under the skin. It may also be caused by local pyogenic infection directly spreading through lymph or blood circulation. The more common pathogen is β-hemolytic streptococci, and the second is Staphylococcus aureus.
Most patients can be cured with active treatment, but a few special types of in-frame cellulitis may be life-threatening.
