Guiding you with care, every step of the way.
Periodontitis is a more general term that includes a range of diseases that occur in periodontal tissues, such as gingivitis and periodontitis. Periodontitis is a more serious type of periodontal disease.
From the clinical manifestations, gingivitis is mainly characterized by gingival redness and bleeding, but usually there is no obvious periodontal pocket formation and alveolar bone resorption. Periodontitis in addition to gingival inflammation, there are periodontal pocket formation, alveolar bone resorption, can lead to tooth loosening, displacement and even loss.
In terms of etiology, they are similar, both are closely related to local irritants such as dental plaque and dental calculus, but periodontitis is often also related to individual susceptibility and systemic factors.
In treatment, gingivitis can usually be better controlled and recovered through effective oral cleaning and professional cleaning. The treatment of periodontitis is more complicated. In addition to basic cleaning, scaling, root surface leveling and even surgery are required in severe cases. Oral hygiene maintenance and regular reexamination should be strengthened to control the progress of the disease.
