What causes endocrine cancer?

There are many types of endocrine cancer, such as carcinoid syndrome, gastrin tumor, islet cell tumor, etc. The different causes of the disease are also different.
1. Carcinoid
syndrome is a relatively common neuroendocrine tumor ectopic hormone syndrome. The exact etiology of the disease has not been clarified. It is considered to be caused by histamine, bradykinin, 5-HT and other substances secreted by malignant carcinoid cells.
2. Gastrin
tumor is a neuroendocrine tumor that occurs in the gastrointestinal tract, including benign and malignant gastrin tumor. The etiology of the disease is unknown. It is considered to be caused by gene mutation of pancreatic α1 cells.
3. Islet cell tumor is
also called pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, including benign pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor and malignant pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor. Malignant pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor belongs to one of endocrine cancers. The etiology of the disease has not been determined. It is considered to originate from totipotent stem cells in the pancreatic duct system.
