A lung shadow is not the same as a lung nodule.

Are lung shadows the same as lung nodules?

A lung shadow is an opaque area or blurred image on a chest X-ray or CT scan image that may represent abnormal changes in lung tissue, usually associated with lung inflammation, infection, tumor, etc. Pulmonary nodules refer to small round or oval lesions found in lung tissue. Usually, focal, quasi-round, dense round or oval lesions with diameter ≤3cm are found in lung CT examination. They appear as masses. Generally, they are related to pulmonary tuberculoma, inflammatory pseudotumor, pulmonary hamartoma, lung cancer and other diseases. In summary, pulmonary shadows are different from pulmonary nodules.
