Causes of ectopic pancreas

The exact mechanism of ectopic pancreas is unknown. In general, it is related to congenital defects, trauma or surgery, chronic pancreatitis, etc.

1. Congenital defects

Some people may not move to the normal position during embryonic development, but stay in other parts, resulting in the formation of ectopic pancreas.

2. Trauma or surgery

Some trauma or surgery may interfere with the normal position of pancreas, causing it to form ectopic pancreas in other areas.

3. Chronic pancreatitis

Chronic pancreatitis may lead to fibrosis and sclerosis of tissues, thus changing the structure and position of pancreas.
