Soft tissue giant cell tumors are usually not cancer, but may be cancerous.

Is soft tissue giant cell tumor cancer?

Soft tissue giant cell tumors are benign tumors, mostly composed of Langerhans giant cells and mononuclear macrophages. Tumors do not usually spread or metastasize. However, soft tissue giant cell tumors can grow continuously, causing tumor tissue to increase in size, which may compress surrounding tissue, affecting blood circulation in affected tissues and causing pain. If the soft tissue giant cell tumor is continuously stimulated, it may lead to local dysplasia, and the patient may develop cancerous conditions.
