Gastric polyps are not cancerous mainly depends on the type and nature of the polyps.
In general, inflammatory hyperplastic polyps and adenomatous polyps usually do not become cancerous. Inflammatory polyps are caused by inflammatory stimulation, adenomatous polyps are associated with Helicobacter pylori infection, and the probability of cancer in both types of polyps is very low.
However, if the polyps are multiple, ulcerative, and T-shaped, the chances of cancer are very high. These types of polyps, especially those with a diameter of more than 5mm, should be given enough attention and promptly removed to prevent cancer.
