Polio, also known as poliomyelitis, is an acute infectious disease caused by poliovirus infection. Infants may present with nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, fever, sore throat, pain in their limbs, restlessness, crying, excessive sweating, and in severe cases flaccid paralysis.
