How to treat filamentous keratitis

Xerophthalmia or a virus may cause an unhealthy corneal epithelium, causing filiform keratitis. The main symptoms are redness and foreign body sensation. Filiform keratitis is treated by removing the filaments under local anesthesia and applying eye drops, eye ointments, artificial tears, and antibiotics to prevent infection. Patients with xerophthalmia keratitis need to pay attention to prevent recurrent attacks.
