Common causes of rectal wall thickening are rectal inflammatory disease, rectal submucosal lipoma, fibroma, rectal polyps, etc. However, it may also be early rectal cancer. Usually, the above examinations will be abnormal, especially pathological biopsy, which is the gold standard for diagnosing rectal cancer.
