What is high urine amylase?

Building a healthier future, together.
High urinary amylase is a pancreatic disease. A small amount of amylase enters the blood, and others are excreted with urine. The diagnosis of pancreatic disease requires determination of urinary amylase. The conditions that cause elevated urinary amylase include: 1. Pancreatitis, acute pancreatitis, urinary amylase will rise rapidly within 12 hours. Pancreatic trauma caused by surgery or trauma or the use of drugs after surgery, such as morphine and diuretic drugs, can cause pancreatitis. In addition, patients with hypercalcemia and hyperlipidemia can cause pancreatic fire due to telangiectasia, damage to blood vessel wall or obstruction of pancreatic duct. 2. Mumps, salpingitis, peptic ulcer, acute appendicitis, etc., due to inflammation, urinary amylase will rise. 3. Alcohol poisoning. A large intake of alcohol will trigger amylase secretion from pancreas, and amylase that has not been absorbed by the body will be excreted with urine.
