Function of urethral sphincter

Restoring health, one step at a time.
The urinary sphincter is a muscle that controls the flow of urine, regulates bladder pressure, and maintains urine storage.
1. Control urine flow The
urinary sphincter can control urine flow by contracting and relaxing, so that urine is discharged from the bladder at an appropriate rate and volume.
2. Regulation of bladder pressure
The urinary bladder process involves the contraction and relaxation of the bladder wall muscles and the urethral sphincter to regulate changes in the internal pressure of the bladder. During urination, the bladder wall muscles gradually contract, and the urethral sphincter relaxes, so that urine is discharged smoothly.
3. Maintenance of urine storage
When the bladder is full of urine, the urethral sphincter will maintain a contracted state to prevent urine from staying in the bladder and help maintain urine storage.
