They should be admitted to hospital for laryngoscopy. If tonsillitis is diagnosed, they should be treated with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs as prescribed. If cough symptoms are severe, they should also be treated with cough and phlegm drugs as prescribed or atomized inhalation as prescribed.
