What's wrong with urine nitrite?

Dedicated to your healing journey.
Urine nitrite positive indicates urinary tract infection, which is an indicator of infection in urine examination. Nitrate exists in normal urine. When there is urinary tract enterobacter infection, nitrate may be reduced to nitrite, showing nitrite positive. However, the result has a certain false positive rate, which needs to be combined with leukocyte esterase in urine routine analysis. When nitrite and leukocyte esterase are positive in urine, it is normal to indicate enterobacter infection. It is recommended to conduct mid-course urine culture and drug sensitivity test to accurately determine what bacterial infection is, and to screen out antibacterial drugs sensitive to this bacteria. Targeted treatment normally takes one week. After one week, it is recommended to recheck urine routine to understand whether nitrite positive turns negative. If it does not turn negative, it is recommended to continue treatment for one week for consolidation. Prevent repeated infection or chronic infection, affecting the quality of life.
