Alisma orientalis in treating nephrotic edema

Alisma orientalis is cold in nature and sweet in taste. It belongs to kidney and bladder meridians. Its functions are diuresis, dampness and heat discharge. Alisma orientalis has stronger diuresis effect than Poria cocos, and cold in nature can purge heat of kidney and bladder. It is especially suitable for damp-heat of lower jiao. It is used to treat edema, dysuria, diarrhea, turbidity, leukorrhea and phlegm. It is often used together with Zhu Ling, Poria cocos and Coix seed.

If dizziness caused by water dampness and phlegm is caused by water dampness, it can be combined with Baishu, such as Alisma orientalis Decoction. According to the reverse water flow effect of Alisma orientalis, it is now combined with other drugs to treat edema caused by acute nephritis, chronic nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, etc. It has better curative effect. The dosage is 5 to 10 g.
