What is hydrocele of spermatic cord?

Passionate about your health journey.
Spermatic hydrocele is a cystic effusion formed by closing both ends of the sheath process but not closing somewhere in between. Spermatic hydrocele is related to development. If both ends of the sheath process are closed but not closed during development, it will form spermatic hydrocele. Typical symptoms of the patient are unilateral inguinal or testicular mass. When the amount of hydrocele is small, the patient generally has no discomfort. If the amount of hydrocele is large, it will cause local swelling and pulling feeling. If the hydrocele is small and there is no obvious discomfort in daily life, follow-up observation can be performed. If the symptoms are serious, surgery is required. The commonly used surgical methods are partial resection of the sheath and high ligation of the sheath process under laparoscopy.
