Prostatitis infection

Prostatitis is usually not contagious.

Prostatitis is an acute and chronic inflammation of prostate tissue. It is a common disease of male urinary system. It is usually caused by bacterial infection, such as Escherichia coli, Proteus, Staphylococcus aureus, etc. Most bacteria are not contagious clinically and will not be transmitted through sexual contact. In addition, there are some sterile prostatitis, due to the lack of pathogenic bacteria involved, nor through sexual contact, blood contact and other ways of transmission, so prostatitis is usually not contagious.
