Methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) C677T genotype is an important coenzyme in folate metabolism pathway. Deficiency of MTHFR gene can cause folate metabolism disorder in vivo, which makes children prone to neural tube malformation, congenital heart disease, cleft lip and cleft palate. The incidence of pregnancy hypertension syndrome and spontaneous abortion has also increased significantly. The examination results can be divided into CT, TT and CC types, among which CC type represents enzyme activity intact, CT type enzyme activity is acceptable, TT type indicates enzyme activity is very low. According to the test results, folic acid supplementation should be formulated during pregnancy.
