Urinary incontinence is common in the early stages after prostatectomy because surgery may cause some damage to the urethral sphincter and bladder. If urinary incontinence is mild, pelvic floor exercise and bladder training can be actively performed during this period to help restore the ability to control urine outflow, usually 2-6 weeks to recover. If urinary incontinence is serious, and the patient is older, pelvic floor muscles are relaxed, and intra-abdominal pressure is relatively high, it may lead to slower recovery, generally 7-12 weeks to recover.
