Can seminal plasma biochemistry determine azoospermia?

Seminal plasma biochemical examination can not determine whether there is azoospermia.

Azoospermia refers to the absence of sperm or very few sperm in the patient's semen, and seminal plasma is the non-sperm part of semen, mainly composed of secretions from epididymis, prostate, seminal vesicles and other organs. Therefore, semen biochemical examination is mainly based on analyzing the composition of seminal plasma to understand the function of accessory gonads and the patency of vas deferens. However, to determine whether there is azoospermia, semen analysis is needed to observe the number, morphology and motility of sperm in semen.
