are designed to reduce friction during sex, increase vaginal wetness and provide additional slip. Under normal circumstances, proper use of lubricants is usually safe and generally does not cause urinary tract infection or inflammation. However, lubricants may contain fragrances, certain chemicals, etc., which may induce urethritis if an individual is allergic to these irritants. Urethritis may also be caused if you do not wash your hands or clean the vulva area before using lubricants, or if you share lubricant containers and cause cross-infection.
