Brain stem is a part of human brain, including pons, midbrain and medulla oblongata. Brain stem can be seen in cerebrovascular disease and brain stem encephalitis, but also in brain stem occupying disease, for brain stem lesions, patients often show dizziness. If the brain stem lesions, patients with dizziness can also be accompanied by changes in the pupil, oculomotor nerve, trochlear nerve damage performance. In the case of pontine lesions, the patient may present with vertigo, numbness and weakness of the limbs in severe cases, clumsy speech and slurred speech; in the case of medullary lesions, the patient may present with vertigo, choking, dysphagia, dysarthria, and coma in severe cases; and in the case of brainstem lesions, after affecting the ascending reticular activation system, the patient may present with disturbance of consciousness and, in severe cases, life-threatening.
