What is the cough and rib pain

Cough rib pain may be caused by chest muscle strain, rib fracture, pleurisy, lung infection and other reasons.

1. Chest muscle strain

Severe cough may lead to excessive stretching or sprain of chest muscles, causing rib pain.

2. Rib fracture

Direct external impact, severe cough or chest injury may lead to rib fracture, causing pain.

3. Pleurisy

pleurisy refers to inflammation of the pleura, cough may stimulate the pleura, causing rib area pain.

4. Lung infection

pneumonia, bronchitis and other lung infectious diseases may cause cough, accompanied by rib pain.
