How much blood sugar will cause ketosis

Guiding you with care, every step of the way.
Ketosis may occur when blood sugar exceeds 13.9mmol/L.
Under normal circumstances, the body will preferentially use glucose as an energy source. When blood sugar is too high, the body cannot effectively use glucose, which will accelerate the decomposition of fat and produce a large amount of fatty acids. These fatty acids are oxidized by beta in the liver to produce ketone bodies. When the ketone body is produced faster than the rate of utilization by extrahepatic tissues, it may lead to ketosis. Under hyperglycemia, insulin is relatively or absolutely insufficient, and fat decomposition cannot be fully inhibited, resulting in increased ketone body production. At the same time, due to insulin deficiency, the ability of cells to ingest and utilize glucose decreases, further promoting the decomposition of fat and the production of ketone bodies.
