Can electronic laryngoscope detect esophageal cancer

Electronic laryngoscope can be used as an examination method to diagnose part of esophageal cancer.

With the help of electronic laryngoscope, doctors can directly observe the lesions inside the esophagus, including the shape, color, texture of the esophageal mucosa, as well as whether there are abnormal hyperplasia, stricture, ulcers and other manifestations. It can be used for preliminary examination and evaluation of laryngeal diseases, including early esophageal cancer. However, it should be noted that electronic laryngoscope usually cannot directly examine the deep tissues of the esophagus or more distant lesions. For patients with high suspicion of esophageal cancer, more accurate and comprehensive examination methods such as endoscopy, ultrasound endoscopy, CT scan or pathological biopsy are usually required, which can provide more detailed information to determine whether esophageal cancer is present.
