What is symphysis pubis separation?

The symphysis pubis is a part of the pelvis, i.e. below the waistband and in front of the bladder. It is a bony connection. Symphysis pubis separation mainly causes pelvic instability, such as pelvic fracture or sacroiliac joint instability, which can cause severe consequences such as massive bleeding and pelvic organ damage. Mild symphysis pubis separation can be treated surgically or conservatively; operation is recommended for symphysis pubis separation that affects pelvic stability or combines other injuries.
