Cervical cancer screening: TCT or HPV testing

Building bridges to better health.
Cervical cancer screening is generally recommended to do TCT and HPV testing together. If you only want to choose one, it is recommended to do TCT examination.
TCT examination is cervical liquid-based thin-layer cell test, this examination can directly observe whether there are abnormal changes in cervical cell morphology, such as inflammation, precancerous lesions, etc. HPV testing is mainly to identify whether there is HPV infection. In general, it is recommended to do two tests together, which can more comprehensively understand the health of the cervix.
If you only want to choose one of them, TCT examination is preferred. Because TCT examination can help find early abnormal lesions of cervical cells, HPV test can only find whether there is HPV infection.
