What is familial intestinal polyposis?

Restoring balance, restoring life.
Familial intestinal polyposis usually refers to familial colon polyposis, which is usually related to gene mutations.
Familial colon polyposis is a genetic disease that is autosomal dominant and caused by mutations in specific genes. According to research, APC gene mutations are present in 30% to 50% of patients. This mutated gene can lead to abnormal proliferation and loss of control of intestinal mucosal cells, resulting in the formation of multiple polyps. Because of the presence of genetic mutations that can cause the disease to be transmitted to offspring by genetic means, that is, one of the parents carries the mutated gene, the probability of the child suffering from the disease will be significantly increased.
