Langerhans cell histiocytosis is a rare histiocytic disorder, most often caused by clonal proliferation of Langerhans cells.
Langerhans cell histiocytosis occurs in children, with a peak age of 1-4 years, with slightly more males than females. When Langerhans cell histiocytosis occurs, symptoms such as rash, fever, exophthalmos, polyuria, and enlarged lymph nodes may occur. As the disease progresses, patients may also develop sequelae such as hearing loss and growth retardation.
