What causes nephroblastoma?

Empowering lives through health.
The causes of nephroblastoma are not very clear, and may be related to environmental factors, gene mutations, congenital malformations and other reasons.
1. Environmental factors
Environmental pollutants, radiation and other factors may be associated with the occurrence of nephroblastoma, but the evidence is not sufficient.
2. Gene mutations
Wilms tumor has a certain family tendency, some gene mutations may be related to its pathogenesis. For example, gene defects such as WT1 and WT2 can lead to abnormal kidney development, thus increasing the risk of nephroblastoma.
3. Congenital malformations:
congenital malformations, such as urinary system abnormalities, non-functional renal cysts, fetal hydronephrosis, etc. are all high risk factors for nephroblastoma, which may lead to abnormal cell proliferation in the kidney, thus causing nephroblastoma.
Early detection and treatment are the key to improve the survival rate of children. If there is a patient history at home or if the child has related symptoms, it is recommended to go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.
