What does estrogen mean?

Estrogen is a sex hormone secreted by the ovaries. When inactivated in the liver, it is converted into estriol and estrone. It promotes the maturation of female sexual organs and the appearance of secondary sexual characteristics, while maintaining normal sexual desire. During pregnancy, the placenta can also secrete estrogen.
