Chickenpox is mainly caused by infection with varicella zoster virus. This disease has a tendency to self-heal, and most children recover in about 2 weeks after the onset of chickenpox. However, if the child develops fever during chickenpox, appropriate cooling measures should be taken as soon as possible.
