What are the risks of infection?

Erysipelas is often caused by trauma without attention to cleanliness and bacterial infection. The common pathogen is hemolytic streptococci, which itself is not infectious. Erysipelas can cause local redness, heat and pain, induration and non-depressed edema, and serious hemorrhagic necrosis.
