Edema during pregnancy is caused by the increase of abdominal pressure affecting the venous circulation of lower limbs. The disappearance of edema in the third trimester of pregnancy may be caused by the decrease of pressure of uterine compression pelvic floor vein caused by fetal head entering the pelvis. This is a normal situation. Most women can recover all edema about one week after delivery.
